About Black Bear Inspection

My name is Dave Arnold, and I'm the owner of Black Bear Inspection, a premier Home Inspection company serving the Bayfield, Durango, Pagosa Springs, and surrounding communities.

I hold multiple certifications from InterNACHI for Home Inspections and NRPP as a Radon Testing and Measuring Professional. Combining my expertise in construction, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC, I maintain the highest industry standards for thorough inspections, empowering clients to make well-informed decisions.

I discovered my interest for home inspection during a home remodel in 2018, where I uncovered hidden issues masked by previous "fixes." This experience taught me the importance of having reliable professionals in the home inspection process. My goal is to share my expertise, guiding clients through their home purchase journey with the best advice and support.

In addition to Home Inspections and Radon Testing, I'm a carpenter restoring vintage train cars for the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. This work allows me to refine my carpentry, historic preservation, and attention to detail skills while cultivating an appreciation for craftsmanship. My restoration experience directly translates to my home inspection work, enabling me to recognize various construction techniques and materials' nuances. I'm also an avid woodworker, guitar enthusiast, and certified luthier, creating and repairing beautiful instruments that inspire musicians.
